16-inch chalice expected to generate big interest

THE contents of what is described as “a prominent Killarney residence” will come under the hammer during a two-day auction to be held in mid-May.

The lots include a private collection of fine art, a large quantity of hallmarked silver and period furniture.

The online auction is being hosted by O’Donovan and Associates Auctioneers who are based in Newcastlewest, Co Limerick.

Also being offered for sale is a valuable German Augsburg chalice, dating back to 1650, which is expected to attract significant interest.

The 16-inch high chalice with a gilded interior features scenes of Adam and Eve and it is estimated that it is likely to fetch in excess of €5,000.

Other lots will include an 18th-century Chinese teapot rare books and military memorabilia with the vast majority of lots without a reserve price.
