Over 2,000 endurance athletes to hit town

Over 2,000 people will compete in Quest Killarney

MORE than 2,000 super fit endurance athletes will take Killarney by storm next Saturday, October 6, for the seventh annual Quest Killarney event that will see them traversing hills, pathways and lakes, starting and finishing at the Gleneagle Hotel.

An event expo will take place on the Friday from 5-9pm, with stalls, samples and talks all on the agenda.

The arrival of 2,000 adventure racers is a great event for business in Killarney as many of the participants bring friends and family and that swells the influx further.

“The whole team at Quest is looking forward to welcoming all those taking part and we want to wish them the best of luck, enjoy the day and the craic at the after-party,” said event director Oliver Kirwan.

Road users are being asked to be aware of large groups of cyclists travelling between the Gleneagle Hotel and the Gap of Dunloe from 7.30am to 11.00am. The Muckross and Dinis Trail will be closed from 11.00am to 1.30pm and Lord Brandon’s Cottage to N71 on the Kerry Way track will be closed from 8.00am to 1.00pm.
