417,409 passengers passed through Kerry Airport

The result is particularly welcome in light of the planned capital expenditure of over €4.4 million in 2025

Kerry Airport has reported an operating profit after taxation of €1,373,300 for the period of €1,373,300 for the 12-month period ended 31st December 2024 as compared to €1,198,347 in the previous year.

2024 was another record year for Kerry Airport with 417,409 passengers – the third highest passenger numbers in the facility’s history – for the year to the end of December.

Chief Financial Officer, Basil Sheerin, said they are pleased with a 14 per cent increase year-on-year.

“Supported by government grants, this result is particularly welcome in light of our planned capital expenditure of over €4.4 million in 2025,” he said.

Kerry Airport reported good income from the gift shop and duty free service and car park operations

“Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive following the opening of our new arrivals hall in March 2025 with the expansion of the departures hall due for completion by the end of July 2025.

“This extension is all part of our continued commitment to improving the Kerry Airport passenger experience,” Mr Sheerin said.

Growth in 2024 was driven by strong performances in fuel, the gift shop and duty free service and car park operations.

However, Mr Sheerin acknowledged, administrative expenses remain a challenge, with increased costs in wages, local authority rates, energy and maintenance exerting pressure on the gross profit margin.

“We continue to monitor these areas rigorously to ensure optimal value for money,” he stated.

He said Kerry Airport remains committed to the science based targets Initiative for greenhouse gas emissions as it nears the full conversion of its vehicle fleet to electric and commenced a detailed feasibility study into on-campus energy generation.

On behalf of the executive team, Basil Sheerin thanked the board of directors and staff for their continued leadership and support while acknowledging the unwavering backing of the elected representatives in Kerry and their colleagues in the Department of Transport.

The annual general meeting will be held at Ballygarry Estate Hotel and Spa in Tralee on Monday, June 30.
