THE Bishop of Kerry will present the certificates in pastoral ministry to 37 people from Diocese of Kerry at a gathering in the Heights Hotel, Killarney next Wednesday night.
Bishop Ray Browne will recognise the achievements of participants from the Millstreet Pastoral Area, including Rathmore, Ballydesmond, Boherbue, Dromtariffe and Millstreet.
All the participants are already involved in the life of their local parish and they committed to taking on the 20-week course in Pastoral Ministry last September.
It necessitated a year of study and reflection to consider the needs of their parishes and how they might share their talents and gifts more effectively.
The participants are involved in different ministries, including parish pastoral councils, liturgy groups, finance committees, children’s liturgy, music ministry, ministry of the Word or as Eucharistic Ministers.
The course has taken place over the past seven years in the diocese and, to date, more than 500 people from the 53 parishes in the diocese have completed the course.
A new course will take place in Killorglin Pastoral Area, beginning in September 2019 and those interested can contact Frances Rowland on 064-6630538 or [email protected]
