A SUPREMELY talented father and daughter duo from Kerry will be the stars of an exciting new Irish traditional music television series to commence on TG4 next Thursday.
The legendary Seamus Begley and his daughter Meabh, from West Kerry, will feature on the opening night of Fleadh2020 which is a socially distanced gathering of trad musicians from around the world who would, under normal circumstances, be coming together to celebrate the All-Ireland Fleadh in Mullingar in August.
The series, in partnership with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, will be broadcast on TG4 over four consecutive nights at 9.30pm with a focus on the different provinces with musicians representing each one.
On Saturday night’s programme dancing sensation David Geaney from Dingle performs a live version of one of his lockdown collaborations with the Wang sisters from Co Donegal.
The Fleadh2020 programmes were recorded in Mullingar last week, with Covid restrictions in place, and the music, song and dance and the stories present a unique insight into the fleadh community, across Ireland and around the world.
The presenters will be Dáithí Ó Sé, Doireann Ní Ghlacáin and Kieran Hanrahan and other acts to feature will include the Crossfields Céilí Band, Mick Flannery, Susan O’Neill from Ennis, Aidan and Aine O’Donnell, the Fitzgibbon siblings from Croom and Steve Cooney.
