EIGHT new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Kerry this Wednesday bringing to 88 the total number of additional infections in the county over the past 14 days.
Nationally today, 25 deaths and 566 further cases were notified with five of the fatalities occurring this month, 13 occurred in February and six in January or earlier.
The date of one other death is under investigation and one previously reported fatality has been denotified.
The number of deaths directly related to Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland now rises to 4,357.
Today’s 566 cases means that a total of 221,189 people are now known to have contracted the disease in the country.
Of the cases notified today, 284 are female and 280 are male with 68per cent under 45 years of age. The median age of those affected is 34.
233 of the newly diagnosed cases in Dublin, 37 in Kildare, 30 in Meath, 25 in Donegaland 24 in Westmeath with the remaining 217 cases spread across all other counties, including the eight in Kerry.
Early this morning 489 patients with Covid-19 were in hospital with 114 in intensive care. There have been 29 additional hospitalisations due to the virus in the past 24 hours.
