Adventure racers battle the terrain and the weather

One of more than 1,200 adventurer racers braved the wind and rain

More than 1,200 adventurer racers braved the wind and rain in Kenmare for the return of Quest Kenmare, the first adventure race in the series for 2022.

Cycling and running around the stunning backdrops of Moll’s Gap, Bonane Heritage Park, Esk Mountain and Kenmare town, participants had three routes to opt for – the 28km Challenge route, 43km Sport route and 79km Expert route.

Ellen Vitting defended her title successfully from 2019

Despite adverse weather conditions, competition was tough and all involved had to battle the elements as well as the terrain.

Winners of the Expert route were Niall Davis and local woman Ellen Vitting, who defended her title successfully from 2019. First home in the Sport route were Paul O’Brien and Niamh Cleary and the honours in the Challenge route went to Brian Haugh and Aileen Crowley.

Quest Kenmare will be back in 2023 with a provisional date of Saturday, March 11.
