Kerry’s Eye was making the news rather than reporting it when a team led by the paper’s senior reporter and golfing hotshot Aidan O’Connor made all the headlines at the bumper Ross Golf Club charity days at the weekend.
Club Captain Donie Broderick ensured two very successful days of action – in aid of two wonderful local causes – with over 50 teams participating and multiple sponsors secured for the tee-boxes.
Donie even arranged some spectacular weather for the big occasion and a super raffle helped to ensure the fundraising expectations will be exceeded.
The proceeds will be shared between St Francis Special School in Beaufort and the Kerry Cancer Support Group and the presentations will take place in the very near future.

Captain Donie said he was amazed and delighted with the excellent response and he thanked main sponsors,, Independent Irish Health Foods, Killarney Race Company and MD O’Shea’s, as well as the participating teams, tee-box sponsors and those that donated prizes for the fundraising raffle.
“The big winners over these two great days are both charities who are so deserving and we are delighted to be able to assist them,” said Donie.
Out on the course it was the Kerry’s Eye team that stole the show with Aidan O’Connor anchoring a team that also featured Mary Cronin, Ger Lenihan and Dermot Roche.
The runners-up were Kilcummin Post Office, led by Muiris Healy and including Philip O’Connor, Eugene Kennedy and Dermot O’Sullivan.
