A prolific Killarney author, who is living and married in Japan, has had his most recent work snapped up by Apple TV.
Colin O’Sullivan (49), a native of Ardshanvooley, is a prizewinning author of seven novels and his new work will be dramatised on TV screens around the world from this Wednesday.
The first two of 10 episodes of Sunny, the adaptation of his novel The Dark Manual, will be screened to a huge worldwide audience.
It stars Rashida Jones and Hidetoshi Nishijima who is Japan’s most cherished actor and the lead in 2022 Oscar winning Drive my Car.

Colin’s parents, Pa and Betty O’Sullivan, now enjoying retirement in Killarney, ran the very successful Safe Hands Dry Cleaners in the town before passing it on to Colin’s brother Alan.
Colin and his Japanese wife, Yuk,i were invited to an Apple TV dinner in Tokyo to celebrate the launch of the show with all of the stars involved.

“I was very pleasantly surprised by the success of the adaptation to screen. Initial reviews have been very positive and everyone is very excited about it,” said Colin.
Colin’s novels include Killarney Blues, his first novel, which won the Prix Mystère de la critique, a prestigious crime fiction award in France.
The Starved Lover Sings was published in Russian to great acclaim, The True Story of Binderella and Other Secret Siblings which is an intriguing tale that delves into hidden family connections, The Starved Lover Sings, Marshmallows and My Perfect Cousin.
