AN annual festive season fundraiser for St Vincent de Paul, which has raised over €95,000 over the past seven years, has a target of at least €15,000 this December.
Radio Kerry’s annual countywide Christmas Jumper Day fundraiser will take place on Friday, December 11 and, in keeping with Covid-19 restrictions, people are being invited to take part in their own local environment simply by wearing a seasonal jumper.
They then simply share a photograph or video via social media, email, text and WhatsApp and make a donation to the St Vincent De Paul.
Individuals, families, school and university students, teachers, colleagues in small, medium and large enterprises – whether working from the office or at home – can all participate but they are asked to register to take part on www.radiokerry.ie/jumperday20.
Paddy Kevane, President of the Society of St Vincent de Paul in Kerry, has appealed to the people of Kerry to get involved to help fellow Kerry people who are facing a very difficult Christmas.
Donations may be made directly to the St Vincent de Paul Kerry bank account, the charity’s shops around the county or to Radio Kerry. This year there will also be an online donation service https://www.radiokerry.ie/donate and a dedicated phone line for donations (066-7128021 – Extension 1).
The money raised via Christmas Jumper Day is used to fund a number of St Vincent de Paul projects right across Kerry including food hampers, gifts for children who are homeless and in direct provision, Christmas Day meals on wheels and the Kerry Education Fund.
St Vincent de Paul operates a donation centre in Tralee and stores in Killarney, Castleisland, Listowel, Killorglin, Killarney, Dingle and Abbeyfeale.
The St Vincent de Paul Kerry account details are: Bank of Ireland Tralee; IBAN: IE07 BOFI 9058 3896 529151; BIC: BOFIIE2D.
