A NOVEL fundraiser for a progressive GAA club attracted close on 500 people to an open air music session and barbecue with top-notch entertainment provided to keep them enthralled.
The inaugural Flesk Fest – hosed by Glenflesk GAA Club – was held indoors and outdoors at the Kerry Way Steakhouse and Bar on the eve of the Kerry v Donegal Super 8’s game and it was the perfect send-off for the dozens of local supporters that were hitting the road to Croke Park the following morning.
They don’t do things in half measures in Glenflesk and the brilliant entertainment was provided by The Kilkennys and Flog the Dog and it had the revellers on their feet, dancing a set or three, in keeping with the best cultural traditions of the area.
Dedicated GAA supporters retreated indoors later in the afternoon to keep up with the action from the Cork v Tyrone and Dublin v Roscommon games on TV but the fun continued for the shirt-sleeved crowd outside and it lasted long into the evening.
