A basketball tournament to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of a Killarney basketball player down through the years is being organised for Killarney.
St Paul’s Basketball Club will host the inaugural Lynn Jones Basketball Tournament on Saturday, December 14 and the action will take place in the Spa GAA Club hall.
Lynn Jones is still an integral part of the St Paul’s Superleague side and outside of her obvious dedication to the game, she is rightly considered to be amongst the finest women’s players to ever play in Killarney.
St Paul’s Superleague coach James Fleming said it is fitting to acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful input Lynn has put into the game of basketball in the town, the county and the country.
“She is to women’s basketball what Colm Cooper is to Kerry football – an inspiration to young and old,” he said.
The 12-team tournament is open to under 11 players and it will be a day-long event with the final taking place in line with the Utility Trust St Paul’s Superleague game against Waterford Wildcats.
