TWO of Kerry’s premier basketball sides, Scott’s Lakers Killarney and Garvey’s Tralee Warriors, will go toe-to-toe in a glamour pre-season challenge match in Killarney Sports Centre this Wednesday night at 8.00pm.
Both sides have been busy preparing for the new season which commences in the next few weeks and a night of top quality action is on the cards.

Champions Warriors enjoyed success in their own pre-season tournament in Tralee at the weekend with victories over Sligo, Ballincollig and Neptune. Lakers, meanwhile, enjoyed an impressive win over Limerick Sports Eagles last week, despite lining out with just one foreign player.
Tralee Warriors, coached by Pat Price, are the reigning Super League champions and are expected to bring a star-studded line-up to Killarney for this match.

Kieran Donaghy: Warriors veteran

New American Jonathan Lawton is tipped to make a big impact in the league this year and he is joined by Keith Jumper, who lined out with Tralee last year. Former Killorglin players Daniel Jokubaitis and Ivan Bogdanovic also add strength to the Warriors side who will also be boosted with the inclusion of Irish players Kieran Donaghy, point guard Paul Dick from Belfast, Daragh O’Hanlon, Eoin Quigley, Fergal O’Sullivan and Darren O’Sullivan.
Scotts Lakers, under new coach Shane McCarthy, will parade their new foreign signings on Wednesday night.

American Aaron Jackson landed in Killarney last weekend and he will be joined on court by Toby Christensen from Denmark and Spaniard Victor Martínez.
Local players Mark Greene, Andrew Fitzgerald, Seamus Brosnan and Cian Clernon will feature for the Lakers again this season while former Blue Demons players, Carlton Cuff and Brian O’Neill, will give them extra strength in depth. Both impressed in the recent challenge match in Limerick with Cuff contributing 26 points while O’Neill added 15.
The doors will open in Killarney Sports Centre on Wednesday night at 7.30pm and admission  is €5.00 for adults and €3.00 for children.
Season tickets for Scott’s Lakers home games will also be available to purchase on the night.
