THREE members of the Dr Crokes All-Ireland Club Championship final side were back in Croke Park last night where they were honoured with inclusion in the AIB Club Team of the Championship.
All-action wing back Gavin White, veteran attacker Kieran O’Leary and young hotshot Tony Brosnan were all selected by the judges on a team largely dominated by the team that beat them in the final, Corofin of Galway.
The citation for White was that he was as fast as he was comfortable in possession and he was an impressive man-of-the-match in the All-Ireland semi-final.
Of Kieran O’Leary the adjudicators said he was an outstanding leader on the field of play and he contributed four points from play in the course of a terrific performance at the penultimate stage of the chub championship.
Young Tony Brosnan’s accuracy impressed the selection committee who noted that he can mix skill and composure in equal measure, as he proved in a six-points salvo in the semi-final.
The team was chosen by a panel of national and regional media who considered outstanding performances over the provincial and All-Ireland series.
All-Ireland champions Corofin have seven players on the team of the year and their star man Kieran Molloy was named player of the year.
