Bridge demolition will cause long delays

Supt Oliver Henry of Nass Garda Station pointing out the location of the planned road closures

KERRY fans travelling to the eagerly anticipated National Football League final clash in Croke Park on Sunday can expect to encounter very significant delays to and from the journey to Dublin.

Due to the demolition of an overbridge as part of the M7 upgrade project, traffic will be diverted on to new sliproads between Junction 9 and Junction 10 in Nass, Co Kildare between 9pm on Friday and 10pm on Sunday.

Both lanes in both directions on the M7 will be closed and a 25km/h speed limit will be strictly enforced in both directions for the duration of the diversion.

Motorists have been advised to plan ahead, allow for long delays and to obey the advised speed limit.

The road closure couldn’t have come on a worse weekend for GAA fans with Kerry supporters not the only group that will experience delays.

Fans of Waterford and Limerick will also travel the M7 for the National Hurling League decider, also in Croke Park on Sunday, while Kilkenny camogie supporters will be joining the same road for their final date with Galway.
