A team of bright spark pupils from a Kerry school were crowned national champions at the Irish League of Credit Unions Schools Quiz grand final held in the RDS, Dublin.

Following months of intensive competition, involving more than 25,000 students from across the island, the final saw 88 talented teams go head-to-head in a dramatic conclusion to the popular quiz.

Éabha Buckley, Diarmuid Horan, Conor McCarthy and Kayleigh White, from Holy Family National School in Rathmore and representing Rathmore and District Credit Union, won the Under 11 A competition in great style.

Fergus McAuliffe, CEO of Rathmore and District Credit Union, remarked: “We’re incredibly proud of Éabha, Diarmuid, Conor and Kayleigh for this fantastic achievement. Their teamwork, enthusiasm and dedication throughout the competition have been truly inspiring”.

Mr McAuliffe said this success highlights the talent in the local community and the credit union is delighted to support such brilliant young students.

“We’re also very thankful to their teachers and parents for their help and support throughout the competition.” he said.

The quiz, a cornerstone of the ILCU’s youth outreach, fosters the principles of teamwork, critical thinking and knowledge-building among Ireland’s school children.

The competition remains a highlight in the primary school calendar, underpinning the credit union movement’s commitment to nurturing community involvement and financial literacy from a young age.
