THERE was a sharp rise in the number of burglaries and property crime offences committed in Kerry in 2018, garda figures confirm.
The number of burglaries rose by three per cent for the year with in the region of 250 cases reported while the incidence of property crime was up by five per cent with over 1,200 offences committed.
Gardai said the number of burglaries, in particular, was a cause for concern.
The number of shoplifting incidents – which was over 460 – increased by two per cent during the course of the year but there was a significant 15 per cent reduction in the number of thefts from vehicles reported.
