THERE has been a call for frontline healthcare workers to be paid “a substantial premium” for their efforts in treating patients during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Kerry County Council member, Cllr John Francis Flynn, has asked the local authority to write to Health Minister, Stephen Donnelly, on the matter.
He said the healthcare works should be rewarded for their hard work and dedication during very trying times.
“It is only right that we respect and acknowledge their commitment and bravery,” Cllr Flynn said.
“Many healthcare workers, such as carers, are only earning the minimum wage at the moment,” he pointed out.
