A KERRY Fianna Fail politician has urged his party to support a vote of no confidence in Health Minister Simon Harris.
Cllr Michael Cahill said the public is outraged at the new children’s hospital budget overrun fiasco and want the government to be accountable and not perceived to be squandering hundreds of millions of euros.
The former chairman of the Southern Health Board said the children’s hospital scandal comes on top of the trolley crisis and the cervical cancer saga.
“This comes at a time when our wonderful, hardworking nurses have to go out on strike for better pay and working conditions. There is absolutely no governance whatsoever in our health service and this is no longer acceptable,” he said.
“The public deserves better. Minister Harris is at the helm of the health service in Ireland, he is the captain of the ship, the buck stops with him and he has to go.
