Cash boost for non public rural roads

KERRY is to receive €669,930 for local improvement scheme projects with a cap of €1,200 to be placed on the amount any individual homeowner or landowner can be asked to contribute towards the cost of repairs to their roads.

This will support the continued improvement of non-public rural roads that enable people to access their homes and farms.

Once local authorities have certified completion of projects approved under the October 2018 announcement, 50 per cent of the funding will be made available.

The balance will be made available at a later stage, following completion of this next phase of projects.

The news has been welcomed by Deputy Danny Healy-Rae who said it is necessary to get local roads upgrade leading to many family houses.
