Celtic set to host City slickers

Celtic manager Brian Spillane

DOUBLE champions Killarney Celtic will have a golden opportunity to test their skills and stamina against League of Ireland opposition this Thursday night when they entertain hotshots Cork City in a pre-season friendly at Celtic Park (kick-off: 7.00pm).

The game, under lights, is expected to attract a bumper attendance to see the Kerry League and Cup holders do battle with one of the top sides in the country managed by the astute John Caulfield.

City face champions Dundalk in the President’s Cup at Turner’s Cross on February 9.

“We have a great relationship with Cork City and it’s a game we are really looking forward to,” said Celtic Chairman Paul Sherry.

It will also afford manager Brian Spillane a great opportunity to scrutinise the form of his players in advance of their crunch Munster Junior Cup fourth round clash with Limerick side, Ballynanty Rovers, in Sunday. That game, also at Celtic Park, will kick-off at 2.00pm.
