Cheers for the Fáilte as Legends triumph

THEY don’t call them legends for nothing.

Reigning champions the Fáilte Legends retained their Senior Premier title in the Killarney seven-a-side soccer tournament last night with a dramatic and tension-filled penalty shoot-out victory over a super Last Picks side at Woodlawn.

The sides were locked at 3-3 at full-time following a pulsating, thrill-a-minute encounter with Danny Roche proving to be The Fáilte hero with a super hat-trick.

Goals from Ryan Carroll, Mike Milner and Cian Tobin kept Last Picks right in it, however, but it was the Fáilte Legends who triumphed with a 2-1 penalty shoot-out victory.

The Reserve Cup winners were MD O’Shea’s Park Road who registered a 5-3 victory over 3. The scorers for MD O’Shea’s were John McDonagh, who notched a hat-trick, Chris Brady and Stephen Hayes while Mikey Casey bagged a hat-trick for Dream Machine.

In a gripping Over 35’s final Tim Jones Older Butchers – with seven-a-side veteran Pat O’Neill in their line-up – scored a 2-1 victory over Jimmy Brien’s Bar.

Dan Cronin scored the two goals for Tim Jones Older Butchers with Mark Griffin on target for Jimmy Brien’s Bar.
