Children will get on their bikes and trikes for a leisurely and fun pedal around Kenmare town to coincide with the Ring of Beara Cycle on Saturday, May 28.
The free-of-charge event will give the younger generation an opportunity to join in the day’s activities with their parents and it’s a great way for them to enjoy the great outdoors and exercise in a and safe environment.
The Ring of Beara Kids’ Cycle is open to any national school pupil between third and fifth class and it will commence, well after the adults have set-off. It will follow a 2km route around Kenmare town starting in the town square.

A team of marshals will supervise the route and help ensure the safety of all children who participate. Anyone who wishes to register a child for the cycle can do so from 9.30am at the marquee located in Kenmare Square on the day of the event. Parents and guardians are welcome to cycle with their children and all participants should bring and wear a safety helmet for the cycle.
The Ring of Beara Cycle, which will have over 5,000 cyclists taking part, starts and finishes in Kenmare and participants can complete in either a 110km or 140km route encompassing the magnificent mountains, valleys and the rugged coastline of the Beara Peninsula.
Not only does the event make a significant, positive impact on the local economy, it also has the added advantage of helping to support local charities each year, to the tune of over €50,000 donated to local charities.
