Valentia Island Slate Quarry provided a truly spectacular setting for a performance of the Kerry Choral Union as part of Kerry County Council’s Architecture Kerry 2024 promotion.

The Kerry Choral Union, with conductor and musical director, Sharon Reidy, performed in the iconic caverns the quarry and it was a memorable experience for those fortunate enough to be in attendance.

The concert was hosted by the quarry owner Aidan Forde.

Steeped in history and heritage, the famous slate quarry was opened in 1816, and it became renowned for its quality, providing slate for the Paris Opera House and London’s Houses of Parliament.
