Christy O’Connor: new role with Kerry County Council

KERRY County Council has appointed a new director of corporate services.

Christy O’Connor is originally from west Limerick and has a long and extensive career working in local government in Limerick, firstly with Limerick County Council and subsequently, following the amalgamation of both authorities in 2014, for the new authority Limerick City and County Council.

He has worked in numerous departments in the local authority over the years including as human resources manager for four years and as senior executive officer in the environment department for four years.

He also served in the planning and development department for eight years and as meetings administrator for Limerick City and County Council and the Limerick Metropolitan District for the last four years.

Christy holds an Honours Degree in Public Administration, a CIPD Certificate in Public Sector Human Resource Management and a Professional Certificate in Governance.

Following a recent recruitment process, he was successful in gaining promotion to the position of Director of Services. He took up this position with Kerry County Council on the April 30.
