Clifford and O’Donoghue both return

Back: David Clifford
Back: James O’Donoghue

LOOK who’s back. And do a double take.

David Clifford and James O’Donoghue are both included in the matchday squad as the Kingdom prepares to entertain Mayo at Austin Stack Park, Tralee this Saturday night (7.00pm).

The deadly duo return from injury and could make their first starts of the NFL campaign – a prospect that has Kerry fans wringing their hands in anticipation.

Brian Kelly of Killarney Legion starts between the posts in place of Rathmore’s Shane Ryan and Tadhg Morley comes in at full back instead of Jack Sherwood and they are the only two changes from the side that started against Monaghan in Killarney.

The Kerry boss still has to plan without David Moran and Paul Geaney who are both on the treatment table while the Dr Crokes contingent – patricularly Gavin White and Shane Murphy – have other matters to occupy themselves with this weekend.

Kerry top the table on 10 points, with an impeccable five wins from five, and Mayo currently share second place alongside Dublin and Galway, all on six points, having both lost two games.

Dublin have a far superior scoring average so Mayo – who lost back-to-back games against Dublin and Galway – will be looking to find the target with great frequency in Tralee in an attempt to close the gap.

Kerry have one foot in the Division 1 final and know that a point against James Horan’s side will be enough to see them progress
