THE roar of Killarney Cougars wasn’t as fierce as had been hoped in their debut night in Division 1 of the National League as they fell 59-87 to an impressive UCC Demons.
It was a decent enough performance from the newcomers who have a number of former St Paul’s Scott’s Lakers players in their ranks, including Mark Greene, Jason Tuason and Andrew Fitzgerald as well as Mark O’Shea and Conor Flynn from Killorglin.
The game was played at the Presentation Gym and the Cougars’ mentors will be happy enough with a very competitive performance in what was a history-making night for the club.
Mark O’Shea top scored for Cougars on 19 points with Justin Tuason contributing 18 and Conor Flynn chipping in with 11.
Tala Fam Thiam was on fire for Demons with 31 points while Andre Kennedy hit 14.
