Buoyed by the enormous contribution of senior team members with Kerry in last Saturday’s All-Ireland quarter-final victory over champs Armagh, Dr Crokes will be turning their attention to the smaller ball in the coming weeks as they prepare for their annual fundraising golf classic.

Captain Gavin White, Mark O’Shea, Evan Looney and Micheál Burns all performed superbly last Sunday in Croke Park with Shane Murphy waiting on the wings, Tony Brosnan rehabbing from injury and Charlie Keating also part of the squad.

Their fate in this year’s championship will already be determined by the time the golf classic comes around so the club will be hoping that some of them might even line out on the day to show they are just as capable with the smaller ball than the more familiar O’Neill’s.

The golf classic will be played on the Mahony’s Point course at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club on Thursday, July 31and Friday, August 1.

The entry fee is €400 for a team of four and further information is available from Vincent Casey (087-2461599) or Eoin Brosnan (086-8528308).
