D-day is Daniel day in Killarney

Daniel O’Donmell will present the Looking Good awards

THIS Friday is D-day in Killarney as the great Daniel O’Donnell has been lined up to present the awards at this year’s highly anticipated Killarney Looking Good ceremony. The gala ceremony will take place on Scott Street at 5.00pm.

Running since 1991, the Killarney looking Good Awards celebrate and thank the local businesses, residents and volunteers who help to keep Killarney looking its very best, all year round.
The overall winner will be announced on the day and the 2018 category winners are:

Best Floral Display: Killarney Brewing Company
Best Public Building: Killarney Fire Station

Meanwhile, the tidy towns competition judges are expected to pay their last visit to the town in the coming days and all businesses and residents are being asked to make sure their premises is well tended to ahead of the judging.

“All the hard-work of the past year will now be scrutinized, from the litter picking, painting, edging and skirting carried out by the volunteers, to the work done by the businesses to their premises, to the investment by the municipal district in street cleaning equipment and the fantastic showing of colour in our flower beds,” said Looking Good chairperson Yvonne Quill.

“It is literally the culmination of months of labour and investment and this is our time to showcase our town in the best possible light.”
