Dancers step into history

FOUR set dancing groups represented Kilcummin Comhaltas at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Ennis and all groups arrived home with All-Ireland medals. This was a fantastic achievement for these dancers who along with their trainer Adrian Moriarty put in long hours of practice to be one of the leading group of dancers over the weekend. Well done to all.

Members of the 15-18 mixed set were Niamh McSweeney, Siobhán Moynihan, Aisling O’Connor, Shauna O’Leary, Patrick O’Callaghan, Conor Coffey, Steven O’Leary and Nathan Counihan.

The 15-18 ladies set dancers were Jasmine Grey, Mary Murphy, Niamh McSweeney, Aisling O’Connor, Siobhán Moynihan, Shauna Leary, Niamh and Aisling O’Donovan.  The under 18 half set group was represented by Patrick O’Callaghan, Niamh McSweeney, Aisling O’Connor and Conor Coffey.

The senior ladies included Ruth McSweeney, Niamh Dalton, Norelle Murphy, Lynn Brosnan, Siobhán Moynihan, Niamh McSweeney, Aoife Murphy and Niamh Sexton.

Dancing: Junior set dancing for children five years upwards will commence shortly. These classes are open to all children from Kilcummin and beyond. For information contact Mary or John Moriarty on 087-9620135 or 086-1579381.

ICA: The monthly meeting of the guild will be held on Wednesday, September 7 at 8.00pm in the Rural Development Office.  All ladies welcome.

Dance: Step dancing will re-commence on this in the Recreation Hall, Kilcummin, at 2.00pm for beginners and 3.00pm for advanced. Contact: Norrie Sheehan on 087-2202463.

GAA: Congratulations to our senior ladies who defeated a strong Crokes side 3-5 to 0-10 in the Mary Jo Curran B semi-final. They face Spa in the final with the date and venue to be confirmed. On Friday, September 9 they face Austin Stacks in the Junior A county final.  The winner of this game will go on to represent Kerry in Munster.

Also coming up for our senior ladies is the Division 3 semi-final with the date and venue to be confirmed. Well done girls.  Kilcummin Abú.  It is important that they are well supported on these occasions as they are an outstanding group and deserve our support.

Under 14: The under 14 girls play Dr Crokes at home on this Wednesday at 6.30pm.  They will play Glenflesk away on September3 at 6.30pm.

Under 12: The under 12 girls play Legion at home at 6.30pm on September 6 in the East Kerry League.

Minors: Congratulations to James Foley and his fellow mentors who have guided Kerry to another Al- Ireland final and we wish them all the best in the decider.

Juniors: Our juniors are in the County League final against Glenbeigh/Glencar. This is scheduled for this Friday but may be subject to change after Kerry’s loss to Dublin.

Lotto: There was no winner of the Mastergeeha FC Lotto at the weekend when the numbers drawn were 10, 11 18 and 23. Consolation prizes went to Patie, James and Kieran Nagle, Mastergeeha; Denis Walsh, Milleen, Kilcummin; David Brosnan, Tournanough, Kilcummin; Sean and Margaret, Lyreatough, Kilcummin and Tina Lenihan, Inchicullane, Kilcummin.  The jackpot is now €1,800.
