PEOPLE out walking close to a busy roadway in Killarney are being placed in danger because a lane for through traffic is not properly defined, a local councillor has pointed out.
Mayor of Killarney, Cllr Brendan Cronin, has highlighted the situation at the entrance to the Mr Price store on the Cork Road and he said there needs to be proper protection provided for the safety of pedestrians.
“It is wide open for accidents and it is wide open for injury,” he said.
Cllr Cronin said there is a huge volume of traffic in the area and any pedestrians that are passing are being placed in danger.
Cllr Michael Gleeson said he raise the same concerns three years ago but nothing has been done to rectify the problems.
Council officials said the matter would be examined as art of a proposed pavement project in 2021.
