Dates confirmed for three big festivals

Punters soaking up the sunshine at Killarney Races

THE dates for the 209 Killarney Races have been confirmed.

Horse Racing Ireland today confirmed a 12-date fixture list for the town with three great meetings planned for May, July and August.

The spring meeting will run from May 12-14 inclusive, the main five-day summer festival will commence on July 15 and the increasingly popular last festival of the year will run from August 21-24 inclusive.

The additional festival day introduced in 2018 is retained for next year and, in some instances, significant changes will be made to the programme with earlier race times for the convenience of punters.
The two built-in breaks for National Hunt jockeys have been retained with the late June-early July break extended from nine to 12 days.
HRI chief executive, Brian Kavanagh, remarked: “The 2019 fixture list has been developed with the needs of both the customer and those working in the industry in mind. 2018 enhancements, such as extra festival dates at Killarney, Galway and Bellewstown, have been retained”.
