David takes charge of the senior squad

David Heasman: New senior squad manager

THERE is a new man at the helm of the ambitious Milltown/Castlemaine senior footballers for the 2021 season.

The experienced David Heasman has been appointed manager of the senior squad and he is currently availing of the opportunity during lockdown to plan his strategy and training drills that will ensure his charges are ready for the battles in store.

David has been a juvenile coach with several of the club’s underage sides and is currently coach of the Kerry under 14 county development squad.

He played junior football with Kerry in 2000 while he also won an All-Ireland Junior Club Championship medal with Castlegregory in 2010.

“We look forward to a safe return to football, hopefully in the not too distant future, but, for the time being, David and his coaching team are in contact with our senior panel ensuring that they are individually able to get ready to take the field when they are able to do so,” the club’s joint press officers, Danny McClure and Dara O’Connor, said in a statement.

Ian Twiss: Selector

David will be joined on the sideline by selectors Brian Kerins and Ian Twiss as well as Liam Doherty and Paul Twiss who will provide statistics and analysis support.

Meanwhile, Milltown/Castlemaine GAA has praised two club stalwarts for their wonderful commitment to the club lotto over the years.

Mike Carroll, who has been involved in the lotto draw for over quarter of a century, is finishing up as lotto host after ensuring the weekly draw was so successful over the years.

As well as most recently serving as club secretary. Mike has been involved in several roles, from chairperson to coach, and so many other positions within the executive for 30 years.

Eileen Spring has also been praised for her involvement in the club lotto over the past five years.

“Over an unprecedentedly busy few years, the time Eileen put into the club lotto behind the scenes has been immense. Thanks to our club members’ fantastic support there was a huge increase in annual lotto tickets which Eileen integrated into the draw seamlessly,” the club said.
