KILLARNEY Community College has applied for planning permission to construct a two-classroom extension to facilitate the provision of a new unit for pupils with autism.
The application submitted to Kerry County Council by the Kerry Education service Board seeks approval for the two roomed ASD unit with ancillary accommodation and a resource room on the site of the school on New Road, close to the junction with Port Road.
The plans also make provision for alterations to the existing school building, external signage and the provision of additional car parking.
A decision on the matter from the planning authorities is expected by late September.
