THE passing of Diarmuid O’Connor in Killarney on Sunday caused a real air of sadness in his home town where he was very highly regarded and hugely popular.

Demi – as was widely known – was a member of the well-known O’Connor family from New Road and while his father and brothers operated the busy WK O’Connor & Sons construction firm, Demi opted to pursue a career in the financial sector and became an accountant.

He will be remembered as a witty, friendly and engaging man who had great time for people and was hugely obliging to others going through life.

Predeceased by his parents, William and Kathleen and his brother Paul, Demi – who lived in Loreto Road – is survived by his daughter Katie, sister Sheilagh (McGirl) and brothers Pat, Billy and Johnny.

He is further survived by his uncle Seán, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives, neighbours and many great friends.

In accordance with Government and HSE guidelines, and in the interest of public health, a private family funeral will take place for Demi in St Mary’s Cathedral, Killarney.

The Requiem Mass will be live streamed on on Wednesday morning at 10.30am with burial afterwards in Muckross Abbey.

The family has asked for donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, to be made to palliative care. Your only 24/7 local news service provider. Call 087-2229761
