Denis P operated a family business for over 40 years

THE death has occurred in Killarney of popular businessman Denis P Counihan who operated a busy fitted furniture manufacture and design business in the town for over 40 years.

From Riverside Drive and formerly of Park Road Estate, Denis was a very skilled craftsman and with his wife, Mabel, they established Fine Designs in 1979.

The family business specialised in the creation of bespoke kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and office furniture and their attention to detail and professionalism ensured the service they provided was in big demand.

From a well-known Killarney family, Denis P is survived by Mabel, their children Kieran, Michelle and Mike and grandchildren Evan, Liadh, Dara, Chloe and Emma.

He is further survived by his daughter-in-law Therese, son-in-law Brendan Lohan and Mike’s partner Linda, brothers Brian and Kevin, sister Noreen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, his uncle Denis, relatives, neighbours and many great friends.

In accordance with Government and HSE guidelines and in the interest of public health, a private funeral will take place for Denis P in St Mary’s Cathedral.

The Requiem Mass will be live streamed on churchservices.tv/killarneycathedral on Monday at 10.30am, followed by burial in Killarney Burial Ground, Knockeenduve.

The family has requested donations, in lieu of flowers, if desired, to be made to Palliative Care.
