THEY were talking through their hats at the launch of a new book that captures the magic and idiosyncrasies of Kerry and Irish life between the covers.
Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae, in his trademark black fat cap, enlisted the services of funnyman Tommy Tiernan, in a distinguished black trilby, to launch his second book of recollections and stories at the INEC.
And perhaps predictably, there was no shortage of funny stories to keep the invited guests amused and enthralled.
With his first book, Time to Talk, Healy-Rae established himself as a new storyteller, steeped in the traditions of rural Ireland.
In the follow-up, A Listening Ear, his great storytelling skills come once again to the fore, as he reveals more tales from his Kerry childhood, and brings readers back to the countryside and characters that they have grown to love.
With his quick wit and remarkable observations, the celebrity TD is a consummate chronicler of rural life and the charm of local heroes and happenings.
