Doolan brothers set the scene

IT took extra time before Athletic could advance to the next round of the FAI Junior Cup with a 3-2 victory over Mitchels Avenue.
Athletic started well and had most of the possession but it was Avenue who reached the half time interval with a two-goal lead.
Athletic re-grouped and goals from Shane and Jamie Doolan had us level. From this point on Athletic dominated and found the winner in extra time from a Jamie Doolan strike after good work from the ever-impressive William Courtney.
We would like to wish Jamie Doolan a speedy recovery from the injury he sustained in the last few minutes of the game.

Under 15: Our under 15s secured their second league victory on a 5-1 scoreline at home to Iveragh.
Centre forward Harry Potts saw his composed right foot strike finish in the corner of the net to set Athletic on their way.
Further goals from Adam O’Connell, Keith Suter (two) and Danny Cronin left the final score 5-1 to Athletic.
The back four of Jamie Muldoon, O’Connell, Eamon Long and Ian Prendergast were solid throughout in front of Oliver Cremin and Damian Murhill who shared the goalkeeping duties with the subs fitting into the side effortlessly.
