A YOUNG Killarney student and four friends from college are entering the home straight of a marathon challenge to run 500 miles during the month of February to raise funds for a great cause.
Erica MyGlynn, from Fossa, teamed up with UCC pals Aoife Hanrahan, Robyn Feery, Jodi Fitzgerald and Clodagh Fulcher are on a mission to generate funds for the Laura Lynn Hospice which provides palliative and supportive care and support, as well as respite, specialist therapies and bereavement support, to children free of charge.
Laura Lynn receives no government funding and relies totally on donations from the public and every euro donated can help the charity to provide this essential, invaluable service.
Erica, an outstanding sportswoman who is well known through her exploits with the Kerry ladies’ footballers, has taken to the roads every day to complete a 6km target and the girls have just a week remaining to complete the challenge.
Between the five of them, they have covered 400 miles to date and they are now very close to the finish line.
In the process they have raised €1,290 of their initial €1,300 target through 57 contributions but they would be delighted if they could surpass their target.
“We greatly appreciate all the support we have received so far and all donations are welcome,” said Erica.
