NOW that he has a bit more time on his hands, Enda Kenny is getting out and about more that he could do during his six-year term as Taoiseach.
And that includes more regular visits to Killarney where his family has a holiday home in Kilcummin.
The former Fine Gael leader is one of the thousands of Mayo fans that has made the journey to town this weekend for the showpiece Super 8’s clash in Fitzgerald Stadium tomorrow afternoon.
And he and his wife Fionnuala were out and about bright and early this Saturday morning to soak up the atmosphere ahead of the big game.
They got the day off to the perfect start with a good hearty breakfast in Desire Kitchen on Lower New Street which is a favourite port of call for the former Taoiseach and his family.
And given the weekend that’s in it, Enda was pleasantly surprised – and quick to point out – that the breakfast menu was printed in the red and green colours of Mayo.
Whether or not that’s an omen remains to be seen but thousands of Kerry supports will be hoping that the popular politician will be tucking into a generous dish of humble pie shortly after 5 o’clock tomorrow evening.
