THEY were asked to come early and they did and, given the free visual spectacular that awaited, is was little surprise that the people of Kerry and beyond lined the streets of Killarney in their thousands for the first Christmas in Killarney magical parade of the season.
Wide-eyed and excited children and the young at heart availed of every possible vantage point all the way from Fitzgerald Stadium, where the action started, to High Street where the big event culminated in a riot of colour.
The parade, with stunning floats and colourful characters, wound its way slowly through Lewis Road, College Street, Plunkett Street, Main Street and High Street and the atmosphere was magical as the Christmas in Killarney committee pulled out the stops to make it the biggest and best parade since the festival commenced.
And the good news for those that missed out on the fun is that there are three more parades to come over the next three Saturday nights.
