At the prestigious Munster Under 16 Matchplaty shootout, in Riverdale in Nenagh on Saturday, Deerpark Killarney’s Fionn McMonagle became the third player from the club in successive years to make the boy’s cup final.
Unfortunately, however, he lost out to Tipp Hills’ Charlie Taylor in the final on the day.
Commiserations to Fionn on his loss in the decider but it’s a decent start to the Under 16 season as Aodhan O’Halloran made the quarter-finals of the cup and Daniel Quinlan made it to the same stage in the plate.
Congratulations to Damien Fleming (senior), Connie O’Sullivan Jnr and Ger Casey (intermediate) along with Paddy Murphy (junior) on qualifying for the finals of the Munster Strokeplay in Collins in Cork on the weekend of July 13 after last Sunday’s qualifiers in Listowel.
In the national over 55’s strokeplay, four players from the club have qualified for the finals this weekend in Riverdale with Connie O’Sullivan Jnr, Gearoid Cronin and Ger Casey (intermediate) along with Paddy Murphy (junior) all flying the Deerpark flag.
