Killarney in Covid times: Five cases were reported in the district in 14 days

A TOTAL of 4,538 people in Kerry had tested positive for Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic up to and including May 5, official figures confirm.

In the 14-day period from April 19 to May 3 there were five confirmed cases in the Killarney Municipal District ,seven in Listowel  and nine in Tralee. No cases were notified in the Castleisland, Kenmare and Corca Dhuibhne districts.

Nationally today, there was one further death notified, bringing the total number of fatalities to 4,919.

A further 408 causes of the disease were confirmed and that brings the number of people known to have contracted the virus in the country to 252,303. No details of individual county infection rates are released at weekends.

Early this morning, 110 Covid-19 patients were in hospital with 33 in intensive care. There have been nine additional hospital admissions due to the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

Of the cases notified today, 205 are male and 202 are female with 77 per cent under 45 years of age. The median age of those affected is 31.
