Fleming brothers keep success in the family

James Fleming: made his mark in Listowel

JUST weeks after his brother shot his way to glory in the 2018 National Senior Gents’ Strokeplay Pitch and Putt Championship title, Deerpark Killarney player James Fleming had his own moment in the spotlight out on the course this week.

Damien Fleming: winner in Dublin

He was the winner of the keenly contested Intermediate Scratch Cup event in Listowel on Monday with a super score of 12 under par with clubmate John O’Brien in second place with 10 under par.

James’s brother, Damien, produced a power-packed performance to win the Irish Senior Strokeplay title in July after coming up against some of the best players in the country, at the Glenville course in Dublin.

Damien followed up that feat with an impressive display on a more demanding course at the weekend when he won the visitor’s prize in Derry McCarthy’s Captain’s Prize at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club.

Damien’s Deerpark clubmate, Declan Kelly, won the coveted hole-in-one prize.

At the Deerpark course, Noel Moynihan and Sheila O’Donoghue will hold their Captains’ Prize events this Friday night, commencing at 6.00pm.
