Fossa clubman John takes over as board chairman

John Dineen is the new East Kerry Board Chairman

Not only are they the newly crowned All-Ireland junior football champions but the honour of leading the East Kerry Board for the next five years has also gone to a Fossa clubman.

John Dineen was elected chairman at the board’s annual general meeting to succeed Johnny Brosnan of Currow who was a very popular official since 2007.

Dinnen, the outgoing vice chairman, is very highly regarded within the GAA in the county and he has all the qualities required to be an outstanding chairman.

He becomes yet another Fossa resident to take the chair following Pat Sweeney, the current vice president, Dermot Griffin who was in the hotseat from 2008 to 2013 and, of course, before that, Seán Kelly who went on to become the Kerry County Board chairman and, ultimately, the President of the GAA.

The only other change in terms of the board make-up sees Michael Healy of Glenflesk take over as PRO from Michael O’Mahony of Rathmore who has to step down due to the five-year rule.

John Kelly has stepped down as hurling officer due to club commitments and he is succeeded by Paul Kiely of St Pat’s East Kerry.
