FRIENDS of Maureen Kelliher, the Headford mother of four who is living with multiple sclerosis, are organising two significant fundraisers to help to make life a little easier for their popular neighbour and her four children.
The first event will be a card drive in Glenflesk Community Centre on February 19 (7.00pm) and the organisers would greatly appreciate support on the night or donations of spot prizes.
Following that, on March 4, they are hosting a coffee morning from 10.30am to 1.00pm in the Kerry Way, Glenflesk and, again, support and spot prizes would be greatly appreciated.
Maureen was diagnosed with MS in February 2016 and since then, her everyday life has been drastically changed by her condition. She has always been an active member of the community but her circumstances have become extremely different. Unable to walk without any support, Maureen uses a walking aid to help her go about her everyday life and this, in itself, has caused some difficulties with everyday chores, such as shopping.
Maureen said the support she and her family have received from the MS Society, the HSE and the local community has been overwhelming. It is with their help that life has become easier for the Kelliher family to cope with the circumstances they have been faced with.
