Fun at the stadium – and you’re all invited

THEY say you should never meet your heroes – but try telling that to the thousands of Kerry supporters who would love nothing more than an opportunity to get up close to the All-Ireland finalists in green and gold.

Taking a little time out from their preparations for the biggest game of the year, the Kerry footballers and the management team will meet and greet fans at a gala open day on Saturday next.

Everybody has been invited to Fitzgerald Stadium for the occasion with the gates due to open at 11.00am and the players scheduled to arrive at noon.

Supporters can bring their jerseys or a football to have them signed by their favourite players and the Kerry County Board will also be selling limited edition souvenir autograph books for €5.

Meanwhile, the team from RTÉ’s Up For The Match entertainment show – which will be broadcast on the eve of the final – will be at Fossa GAA grounds on Thursday, August 22 to record a special segment for the programme.

The crew is anxious to capture some of the mounting excitement at David Clifford’s home club ahead of the star player’s first senior All-Ireland final and they will include footage of local underage players in action as a backdrop.
