KILLARNEY Labour Senator Marie Moloney has welcomed the announcement of a new round of funding for the scheme to support national organisations.
This grant aid provides multi-annual funding towards the core costs of national organisations in the community and voluntary sector to assist them to operate and fund core staff positions.
The funding that will be provided will focus on addressing poverty, social exclusion and on promoting equality.
“I am delighted. I have worked on this initiative over the years and I am delighted that funding is being provided again this year,” Senator Moloney stated.
“It is vital for the community and voluntary sector to support key staff positions. The staff involved do a wide variety of valuable work that enhances Irish society.”
The scheme will be administered by Pobal and further information, including the guidelines and application forms and details to register for an information event on January 19 are available at www.pobal.ie
There is a budget of approximately €10 million over three years, subject to a number of factors. The amount that organisations can apply for is between €20,000 minimum and €90,000 maximum and they must show evidence of need.
