Their colours are the same and the blue and yellow flags of Ukraine flying high in Killarney in recent weeks are very familiar to those involved with Spa GAA Club whose official colours are identical.
And that’s not the only bond they share as women and from Ukraine were the VIP guests at a fun-filled Easter egg hunt organised by the GAA club at the weekend.
The Easter Bunny was busier than normal and club members Anne Holland and Pa Murphy worked very hard to ensure everyone had a plentiful supply of chocolate eggs and that great enjoyment was had by all.
“It was also a great opportunity to welcome members of the Ukrainian community to Spa. We hope they enjoyed the visit,” said Spa PRO Deirdre O’Sullivan Darcy.
Separately, an Easter party was held in the Gleneagle Hotel on Sunday for Killarney’s Ukrainian guests with a free return bus service available to transport partygoers to and from the venue.
