KILLARNEY’S St Paul’s Basketball Club enjoyed a brilliant double success in the Kerry Area Board Cup finals with victories in the Division 1 Under 18 Cup and the Division 1 Under 12 Cup.
The Under 18 team, coached by James Fleming and Seanie O’Shea, defeated Tralee Imperials 39-32 in Tralee Sport Complex.

The girls have enjoyed a great season and include several outstanding players who have the ability to progress to national league level in the next few years.

Dual star Ava Doherty is one of the standout players and she had a particularly busy schedule that day as she lined out with the Kerry senior ladies football team in a victory over Wexford earlier in the day before embarking on a 254km journey from Enniscorthy to Tralee for a 6.00 pm tip-off. Again, she played a leading role in the basketball victory for her club.

Abbie Dorothy, younger sister of dual star Ava, was joint captain of the Under 12 team, with Ava Weldon and Siofra Randles, and the top scorers for St Pauls were Clodagh Clancy (15), Siofra Randles (6) and Ciara O’Sullivan (6).
Coached by Padraig Weldon, the  Under 12 girls have also won the Division 1 league in Kerry and are also unbeaten so far this season in the Cork Division 1 league. It has been a tremendous season for this talented young squad and they have an international tournament to look forward to in London at the end of April.
